Boating could provide some liberation, while respecting distancing rules

While everyone yearns for getting outside and mobile, it must also be done responsibly. With the summer months just around the corner, marine enthusiasts can’t help but start thinking about ways to do what they love, while continuing to practice social distancing.

With boat shows around the country either canceled or postponed indefinitely, dealers, manufacturers and other entities to boating consumers are looking for an escape. Fortunately, Active Interest Media’s Marine Group is producing virtual boat shows to connect the industry.

Digital engagement increases

AIM has cited a 28% increase in digital engagement compared to 2019, with marine enthusiasts craving an escape while spending more time online. AIM Marine Group’s virtual boat show is inviting professionals in the industry to showcase their products and services online, while connecting with fellow professionals and prospective buyers.

It seems that AIM’s focus on enhancing digital capabilities has left them well prepared for a situation such as this one, with businesses forced to adapt by pivoting to a digital first approach.

“Having a way to digitally meet customers where they want to be — and where they have to be for at least the near future — is critical to our industry’s overall health.” AIM Marine Group president Gary DeSanctis told Trade Only Today.

Company cites ‘Nautical Distancing’ as safe activity amidst coronavirus

AIM is also quite bullish on boating being a recreational activity that could be conducted safely, so long as boaters remain responsible and respect distance. “Nautical distancing sounds like a great way to help stop the spread of the coronavirus,” said DeSanctis. “A boat is a natural antidote to going stir crazy.”

Not only could avid boaters see it as an escape, but perhaps those even new to boating may see it as an activity that can keep them moving around (and sane) as they look for ways to cope over the summer. In any event, this is a fantastic opportunity for the boating industry to provide the stress relief many potential buyers are looking for.
