While it has been a really challenging year for many, the boating industry has seen a surge in business in recent months. With more first-time boaters emerging in the marketplace and experienced boaters spending even more time out on the water, marine businesses have certainly been as busy as ever. When business is as busy as it is now, it’s important to stay organized and make sure you’re getting the most out of your software.

DockMaster is continuing on with its lineup of training courses, both for new software users and those who just need some fine tuning. Let’s look through what we have in store for August:

Basic Parts Inventory (Wed, Aug. 5 at 10:00 AM)

Our Basic Parts Inventory class on August 5 will cover the basic aspects and general maintenance functions of our Parts Inventory module. This module provides all the necessary tools for efficient inventory tracking, including purchasing, integration to point of sale and integration with the service management (Work Order) features.

Basic Marina Management (Thu, Aug. 6 at 2:00 PM)

Our second class on April 8 will go through the basics of marina management, including billing & storage, wait list functions and visual marina. DockMasters, Accounts Receivable personnel, and Billing Clerks and Reservationists are all welcome to attend as our trainers take you through the processes of boat placement, visual reporting, using the visual marina map and so much more. DockMaster Overview (Thu, Aug. 11 at 10:00 AM)

If you’re a new user of DockMaster or have new staff to train, then this is the class for you. Our general DockMaster Overview class is all about bringing new staff up to speed, or simply those who wish to refresh on the basics of the program. A wide range of topics will be covered including:

Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly Accounting & Balancing (Tue, Aug. 11, 2:00 PM)

Accounting and balancing is crucial year round, which is why our accounting and balancing class will cover daily, weekly, monthly and annual processes. Your class instructor will also cover advanced topics of balancing your general ledger and troubleshooting out of balance issues. Managers, accountants and controllers will be taken through:

• Posting daily cash
• Month end reporting
• Month end closing
• Year end closing
• Posting DM modules to GL
• Balancing Accounts to General Ledger
• Basic Month End Balancing Techniques

Intermediate Service & Scheduler Calendar (Wed, Aug. 12 at 10:00 AM)

As August rolls on, we’ll head into our class on intermediate functions in the Service & Scheduler Calendar. The class will cover more advanced processes in the service module. It is intended for users who already have a solid foundation of knowledge on our service module. Therefore, that includes service writers, service managers and operations managers.

Advanced Marina Management (Thu, Aug. 13 at 2:00 PM)

DockMaster’s marina management system is the foundation of running a marina as efficiently as possible. Virtually anyone involved in your marina operation will have their areas addressed in our Advanced Marina Management class on August 13th.

Point of Sale (Tue, Aug. 18 at 10:00 AM)

Our point of sale training class on August 18 will cover all of DockMaster’s POS functions. Clerks and administrators will be taken through the entire process, from setup, to login, to end of day procedures. Throughout the class, attendees will learn how to do a simple sale, add comments to a ticket, apply discounts, suspend a ticket, and much more. Our trainers will also show you how to receives monies on account, create a special order, refunds, printing, reporting and setting up quick sell buttons.

Intermediate Parts Inventory (Wed, Aug. 19 at 10:00 AM)

Our Intermediate Parts Inventory class will cover the processes of purchasing and receiving parts through DockMaster’s inventory module. We’ll also discuss special orders. Parts clerks, managers and purchasing agents will go through some of the more advanced functions of our inventory module and are also welcome to request additional topics to be discussed.

Service Billing Accounting (Thu, Aug. 20 at 10:00 AM)

As we head to the latter stages of August, we will hold our Service Billing & Accounting class, which will cover the complete work order billing process. Attendees will also gain a better understanding of the impacted accounting process. Topics will include:

General Ledger & Financial Statements (Tue, Aug. 25 at 10:00 AM)

This next class covers all General Ledger processes and procedures, as well as how financial statements are created, modified, and generated.

• Drill down of transactions
• Post Cash to GL Process

Report Generator (Wed, Aug. 26 at 2:00 PM)

DockMaster has an extensive amount of reports available, which is why this class will cover an a heavy amount of them.

Our class will go through how to use the system report generator to create custom reports and save them on your own menus.
