Large or Multiple Site Installations
  • If you intend on connecting multiple locations to a single server you need to have at least T1 speeds or greater between sites. It is highly recommended that these sites be connected via VPN. The greater the network throughput the better the connection will work. We cannot support multi-site connections if the speed is less than 1.5Mbps.
  • The number of persistently connected users and data processing needs can impact the speed and performance of your server.  For large network infrastructures with multiple server or remote site requirements please contact your Account Manager to coordinate a system design consultation, and discuss the optimum solution of your application server role within your network infrastructure. Hosted Connectivity Requirements
Bandwidth Recommended* Minimum
Connectivity 200kb/s download and upload for DockMaster

200kb/s download and upload for Point of Sale

OR: 400kb/s download and upload for DockMaster and Point of Sale on same workstation

(kb/s = kilobits per second)

*Note Bandwidths shown above are per workstation for DockMaster and POS applications only. To determine total bandwidth needed, multiply the above by the total number of concurrent workstation connections necessary. NOTE: Total bandwidth required will be greater if other applications such as an internet browser, streaming music, video/webcams, etc., are accessing the internet at the same time.
Disclaimer We cannot guarantee that the connection speeds available in your area will be sufficient for every configuration. Whenever possible, business class cable internet connections should be the preferred method of connectivity. The number of users concurrently connected, internet connections by other businesses and residences in your area, and/or type of service provided are considerable factors that may impact actual upload and download bandwidth speeds.

Diamond Scan Fuel Requirements

DockMaster has integrated with Diamond Scan to allow importing of fuel sales into DockMaster Point of Sale.

To run the software, you will need a dedicated local workstation that will host the fuel software and database in Microsoft SQL Server Express. The workstation should meet the DockMaster workstation requirements listed below. During the implementation of the software, SQL Server Express will be installed by the implementation team remotely. This workstation must exist on the same Local Area Network (LAN) as the fuel hardware and DockMaster Point of Sale to ensure proper connectivity.

Additional hardware and software purchases are required, and will vary based on the type and number of fuel pumps that you have on site.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In the event that pay at pump card readers will be installed, additional network devices and deployments will be required to ensure PCI Compliance. You will be required to host the Diamond Scan software and DockMaster Point of Sale in a closed LAN with a router that can be configured to limit Internet access to a specific set of white-listed addresses. This network may only contain workstations that are running a currently supported version of Microsoft Windows, to ensure that they are able to receive necessary security patches and updates released by Microsoft.

For additional information about Fuel Integration, please email info@dockmaster.com.
